WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Picture Perfect stars Jennifer Aniston as Kate, a 28 year-old advertising executive who believes she is long overdue for a promotion. But in her career, image is everything and having the “perfect” mate is the key to advancing. When Kate’s best friend, Darcy (Illeana Douglas) suggests that Kate announce her fictitious engagement to an out-of-state wedding photographer (Jay Mohr), the charade works perfectly—until her boss (Kevin Dunn) insists on meeting Kate’s fiancé.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, isn’t perfect—but it is pleasing. Color fidelity is fully saturated with natural fleshtones, rich and warm colors and deep blacks, but is slightly subdued by a dark character. Some interior scenes that lack natural lighting seem a bit plugged up. Images are sharp and detailed with good shadow detail and contrast. There is virtually no noise and artifacts are minimal.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The Dolby® Surround soundtrack is conventional but has a terrific music score that is dynamic and makes the soundtrack enjoyable. Surround is sometimes aggressive. Dialogue sounds natural, though slightly forward in some scenes.
