WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Born to human parents only a few minutes ago, it has already killed seven people. Whatever it is… It’s Alive. Born into a modern world filled with pollution and hidden radioactive substances, the second child born to proud parents Frank (John Ryan) and Lenore (Sharon Farrell) Davis is a grotesque nightmare. This fanged and clawed humanoid infant wreaks deadly havoc in the maternity ward—killing everyone who tries to stop him in his rampage. Lenore knows her baby is a mutant—a witness to the shocking murders in the delivery room—but the mother in her still wants to comfort it. But when they realize that the baby is missing—with home as its destination—it’s a race against time to stop it before it kills again. Thanks to It’s Alive, a baby’s cry will never sound the same.

LaserDisc Picture:
The picture, matted at 1.85:1, looks dated with subdued colors, brownish fleshtones and weak blacks. Images are generally sharp, but wanting in fine detail and texture. Shadow detail is poor, lacking depth and definition in the dark scenes. Even though this is a horror film, the picture is hazy and lacking in overall clarity and depth. Noise and grain are apparent, but artifacts are minimal.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is undistinguished monaural that sounds compressed.
