WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
The Boxer is the critically acclaimed passionate drama that features Daniel Day-Lewis as Danny Flynn, a former IRA member who returns home to Belfast to find peace and anonymity after 14 years in prison. Since the boxing ring was his haven before his imprisonment, Danny transforms a local community center into a boxing gymnasium to provide a refuge for loitering youths. He also enters a world of danger when he rekindles the passion with his former love (Emily Watson)—who is now married to another IRA member.
