WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Cop Land is the story of Freddy Heflin (Sylvester Stallone), a small town sheriff, a law enforcement officer who has long idolized the big city cops that inhabit his seemingly peaceful neighborhood. When a local cop disappears after a brutal shooting accident, Freddy uncovers a massive conspiracy among the local police force and discovers that these cops are not really who he thought they were. When a huge media frenzy develops around the incident, Internal Affairs investigator Moe Tilden (Robert De Niro) is brought into the picture. Now it is up to these two men to choose between exposing the corruption of Freddy’s idols or disregarding the law.
