WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Based on the book by Heinrich Harrer, Brad Pitt stars as the famous Austrian mountaineer in Seven Years In Tibet. The self-centered Harrer’s sole preoccupation, while climbing one of the highest peaks in the Himalayas, was fame and glory. His 1939 trip would lead, however, from the heights of conquest to the depths of internment at a British prisoner-of-war camp, then from escape and a harrowing two-year trek through the Himalayas to the mysterious Tibetan city of Lhasa. There he is befriended by the young Dalai Lama (Jamyang Jamtsho Wangchuk) and is asked to teach the isolated leader about the Western world while Harrer learns about selflessness and enlightenment.
