WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Billy the Kid (Estevez) leads a group of six young outcasts to protect the ranch of John Tunstall (Stamp) in 1878 Lincoln County, New Mexico from corrupt officials who want his land. Tunstall hires the rebellious boys as “Regulators,” but when he is killed in an ambush, the Kid and the Regulators declare a bloody war on the ruthless Santa Fe Ring and become outlaws riding against staggering odds in the greatest and one of the most famous manhunts in Western history.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.85:1 picture is filtered throughout, with poor contrast and undersaturated colors. Shadow delineation is lacking and fleshtones are inconsistent. The picture, however, is solid with no apparent noise or artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a spatial music score that is well recorded and dialogue is natural. Environmental effects are in stereo and there is subtle surround envelopment providing effective ambience.
