WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Chan brings Hong Kong-style movie madness to the streets of America’s meanest ’hood—along with his high spirited slapstick humor. Coming to America for his uncle’s wedding, he gets caught in the middle of a crime war. He soon teaches the locals not to mess with a seemingly average Joe who just happens to be a world-class daredevil and martial arts master. Chan’s “infectious personality” and his own “death-defying stunts” make Rumble In The Bronx an entertainment phenomenon.

LaserDisc Picture:
The theatrical scope frame is presented in 2.35:1. Colors are very vivid with deep solid blacks and natural fleshtones. The picture is however, slightly bright in contrast but shadow detail is excellent. Images are sharp and detailed. Slight noise is apparent but no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a subtle, often aggressive effective sense of surround envelopment with sound effects in stereo and occasionally directionalized. The music score provides subtle ambiance with occasionally deep bass. Dialogue is strictly ADR-manufactured and spatially wanting, not being well integrated with the scenes or other sound elements.
