WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Striptease, based on Carl Hiaasen’s book, stars super-toned Demi Moore as Erin Grant, a woman who lost her job and then her daughter in a child custody battle. To get the money necessary for an appeal, Erin takes a job as an exotic dancer at the Eager Beaver, and attracts the attention of a sex-starved congressman (Reynolds). Originally designed as a drama, the movie’s ending was re-scripted as a comedy when the dramatic climax fell short.

LaserDisc Picture:
Matted at 1.82:1, the picture exhibits vibrant colors that are sometimes oversaturated, natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks. The picture is wanting in sharpness and detail, but has good shadow detail and contrast. Slight noise and minor artifacts are apparent.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack has a mixture of deep bass pounding dance club music and a nicely recorded orchestra score with good soundstage imaging and depth. Dialogue is natural sounding, often with good spatial integration. Surround presence is both subtle and aggressive, making this a pleasing soundtrack experience.
