WSR Narrative Review
Story Synopsis:
Welcome To The Dollhouse is a stark suburban comedy about Dawn Weiner (Matarazzo), the least popular girl in her junior high. She is tormented by her classmates who call her names and deface her locker and she is forever picking spitballs out of her hair. The feisty Dawn gets no relief at home either where her mother clearly favors her angelic little sister, her father has emotionally checked out and her big brother is obsessed with getting into a good college.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 1.72:1 picture exhibits good color fidelity with vibrant colors, natural fleshtones and deep solid blacks. Images are slightly soft, but with good shadow detail and contrast. Noise is apparent but there are no artifacts.

LaserDisc Soundtrack:
The soundtrack is a conventional production with the music score providing most of the surround envelopment. Dialogue is sometimes natural sounding with good spatial integration, while at other times it is poorly ADR-produced.
