DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced and windowboxed/pillarboxed 1.66:1 DVD picture looks dated, with soft images and slightly low contrast. Though details can be nicely rendered, smearing and loss of finer details appear to be related to noise reduction. Colors are generally well balanced, but lack full saturation. Pixelization causes images to break up at times and there is some edge enhancement apparent as well. Still, as shown in the restoration comparisons, the picture has been nicely restored. Soundtrack:
