Story Synopsis:
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 2.35:1 DVD appears to use the same transfer as the 20th Anniversary LaserDisc, and is only marginally superior to that edition. Colors are nicely saturated, with accurate fleshtones and deep blacks, but the picture seems a bit dim, with little visual information in the darker scenes. Images are generally sharp with nicely rendered detail, but some scenes can be quite soft. Lacking a more natural, open appearance the picture looks a bit plugged-up at times. The most bothersome distraction in an otherwise generally pleasing presentation is the appearance of edge enhancement. The source element is revealing of some film grain and artifacts.
