DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.85:1 DVD appears to be the same transfer as the previously released Special Edition DVD, which was, in turn, an improvement over the non-anamorphic edition. Images are generally sharp and nicely detailed at times, while much of the soft appearance is inherent to the source element. While colors can be nicely rendered, the picture seems a bit subdued. Visual information is nicely revealed in the darker scenes, like inside the cast, while the previous version was smeared and totally lacking definition. There is evidence of pixelization, as well as edge enhancement. The source element is revealing of film grain and artifacts. (Suzanne Hodges)
