Story Synopsis:
The Joss Whedon-created ("Buffy The Vampire Slayer") series "Firefly" takes the past and the future, combining it into the present. With horses and spaceships, this science fiction western finds an eclectic group of people aboard the spacecraft Serenity, some of whom are wanted fugitives, others who are stowaways. (Suzanne Hodges)
DVD Picture:
The anamorphically enhanced 1.78:1 DVDs offer this short-lived television series with generally pleasing image quality. Colors can be nicely rendered, but there are times when saturation is not at its fullest. Fleshtones can appear somewhat hot. Images can exhibit nice sharpness and detail, though many scenes are softly focused or somewhat smeared. Contrast sometimes seems a bit low, limiting detail. The visual effects seem out-of-place when combined with live action shots, appearing blurry or lacking adequate resolution. There are some problems with pixel breakup throughout the set, but edge enhancement is minor. (Suzanne Hodges)
