Story Synopsis:
Surveillance is a dark thriller, which asks the question, "Will telling the truth save your life?" Anxious, bewildered, and alone, three witnesses to brutal murders are placed under camera surveillance and are taken through the events of the previous day. One zealot cop, a strung-out junkie, and an eight-year old girl all sit in testimony to the highway massacre, but as the Feds begin to explore the fragile little details each witness conceals, they discover that uncovering "the truth" comes at a very big cost. (Gary Reber)
Picture:
The 1080p AVC picture is inconsistent, with exterior flashback scenes that appear overly contrasty and interior scenes that appear well balanced, with excellent shadow delineation. Colors appear generally natural throughout, with deep blacks and warm hues. Fleshtones appear natural and exhibit differences in complexions. Resolution is good but grain contributes to a rough, slightly harsh image. The stylization is intended and contributes to the edgy violent look. (Gary Reber)
Sound:
The DTS-HD Master Audio™ 5.1-channel soundtrack is generally well presented with deep, low-frequency bass energy below 25 Hz in the .1 LFE channel. The music score is nicely recorded and provides enhanced surround envelopment, along with eerie atmospheric sound effects. Surround envelopment is aggressive, with at times, directionalized effects. Dialogue is presented with good spatial integration throughout, never seeming out of place or unnatural. This is a soundtrack that, at times, effectively intensifies the violent and sinister story twists. (Gary Reber)
