The 2.39:1 2160p HEVC/H.265 Ultra HD HDR10 picture, reviewed on a VIZIO Quantum X P85QX-JI UHD/HDR display, was photographed digitally using the HDCam camera system and sourced from a 4K master Digital Intermediate format. The picture's color palette is wonderful and full of pastel hue with nuances shadings and intensities. Colors are vibrant such as the greens of Avalonia and the oranges with superb highlights. Flesh tones are animated perfectly. HDR contrast is excellent with deep backs, natural white levels and revealing shadows. Resolution is fantastic with fine detail exhibited in the multitude of textures of the strange world and farm. Costume textures are vivid. Even animated skin pores are finely detailed as well as beard stubble. This is a gorgeous colorful picture with imaginative imagery. (Gary Reber)
The Dolby Atmos/Dolby TrueHD 7.1-channel soundtrack is dynamic sounding with a terrific orchestral score that spans the soundstage wide and deep and aggressively extends for surround envelopment. Sound effects nicely enhance the imagery and action sequences, ADR is intelligible throughout with generally satisfying dialogue spatial integration.
The Immersive Sound element is comprised of the extension of the orchestral score and various atmospherics and sound effects, which include wind, ruble sounds, nuanced yells and voices, airplane dive sounds and crashes and other minor effects. This is a nicely crafted height layer that enhances soundfield dimensionality.
This is a wonderful holosonic® spherical surround soundtrack experience that is compelling. (Gary Reber)
