Story Synopsis:
“South Pacific” is the classic adaptation of the play by Richard Rodgers, Oscar Hammerstein II and Joshua Logan that is based on the book, Tales Of The South Pacific by James A. Michener. Music, comedy and romance sweep the screen in this dashing musical set in the South Seas of World War II. It was filmed almost entirely on Kauai, Hawaii and boasts a score with such unforgettable songs as “Some Enchanted Evening,” Younger Than Springtime” and “Bail H’ai.”It won an Oscar® for Best Sound.

LaserDisc Picture:
The 2.21:1 picture is sharp and detailed with vivid colors, deep blacks and natural fleshtones. While some scenes are oversaturated and filtered there is no apparent grain or noise, or artifacts. The THX transfer quality is solid.
