Image Entertainment Signs Five-Picture Distribution Deal With Regent Studios; Image Releasing Regent Studios Titles On DVD

Image Entertainment, Inc. announced it has signed an agreement with Regent Studios to release five popular Regent titles on DVD.  The Regent titles being released by Image include ""Callas Forever,"" the Franco Zefirelli-directed theatrical release that gave a fictionalized account of the final days of singer Maria Callas; ""Merci Docteur Rey,"" the Merchant-Ivory comedy starring Dianne Wiest as an opera-diva mother; sorority-horror picture ""The Sisterhood""; ""Witches of the Caribbean,"" the story of a troubled teen with recurring nightmares of a 16th Century witch; and ""Eve's Christmas,"" a film about a woman who gets a second chance in life when a magical wish transports her back in time. ""We are looking forward to a mutually beneficial relationship with Regent Studios,"" said Martin W. Greenwald, president and chief executive officer of Image Entertainment. ""Working with Regent, we plan to bring to market a very solid array of film content that we know will be welcomed by retailers."" ""This agreement with Image Entertainment will better enable us to bring these titles to the consumer DVD market,"" said Jeff Schenck, president of Regent Studios, LLC. ""We felt Image was the best choice to be our distribution partner on these titles, and look forward to expanding our relationship with them.""
