AudioControl Debuts Seven Channel Theatre Amplifier

26-Sep-05

Amplifier designer and manufacturer, AudioControl, is proud to announce the latest addition to their line of Perfection hom theater products. The new Savoy home theater amplifier provides 150 watts per channel, all channels driven, into seven channels running at an 8 ohm load. The result is a cool-running total output of 1,050 watts generated from the sonically pleasing and highly efficient Class H topology that AudioControl amplifier customers have come to appreciate. ìWith the greater acceptance of seven channel surround formats such as Dolby 7.1, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, and DTS-ES 6.1, the Savoy is a natural addition to our line of theater amplifiersî, commented Chris Kane of AudioControl. ìOur customers have grown to enjoy the fact that AudioControl amplifiers offer authoritative output power and pristine sound quantity, yet generate very little heat. This makes the Savoy a great sounding, highly reliable component for any seven-channel performance theater.î The new Savoy is designed using a cool-running Class-H amplifier topology; some of which is the same design used in other award winning AudioControl amplifiers; recipients of the CES Innovations and the Electronic House Product Of The Year awards. In a Class-H design, a specially designed circuit monitors the input signal level playing into the amplifier and allows the amplifier to produce output levels that are just above these input signals. This type of topology increases the efficiency of the amplifier, reduces heat and unnecessary power dissipation. The Savoy also incorporates AudioControlís LightDrive Anti-Clipping Protection Circuit, which safely eliminates any possibility of speaker damaging clipping and distortion, even under the most severely over-driven conditions. Bottom line: System designers and installers can eliminate those frustrating after-hours service calls. In addition to pristine audio performance, the Savoy sports desirable user features like balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, as well as RCA outputs for bi-amp systems. User selected voltage gain switches match each channel to the input signal, which reduces the noise floor rendering higher quality acoustic performances. The Savoy is housed in a heavy-duty, all-metal chassis, and is available with optional rack mount brackets. Five-way binding posts guarantee solid power transmission to any audiophile-grade cables, no matter what type of connectors is used. Cosmetically, the Savoy remains true to the simplistic elegance designed into all AudioControl home theater products. A brushed black-aluminum front panel frames the display where cobalt blue LEDís indicate power distribution independently for each of the seven channels. Fine white lettering labels the most prominent features without cluttering the appearance or distracting the eye from the Savoyís refined styling. The Savoy has a U.S. selling price of $2500 and will begin shipping in September 2005
