December 29, 2005

Westinghouse Digital Electronics announced its new LCD HDTVs, models LTV-27w6HD and LTV-32w3HD, the first to offer the company’s SpineDesign™, and integrated ATSC and NTSC tuners to display over-the-air high-definition digital signals and standard definition analog signals. The Westinghouse SpineDesign offers easy access from both sides of the TV “spine” for all of the video source connections offered, including DVD players, personal computers, gaming consoles, satellite and cable boxes, Windows Media Center Edition and more, eliminating cable clutter and keeping cables from view. SpineDesign also incorporates a single board to shorten the signal path from video sources to the panel for outstanding picture quality. These models are enhanced by advanced 10-bit video processing to minimize artifacts for crisp images. The integrated ATSC and NTSC tuners enable both high definition and standard analog channels to be combined into a single list for the ultimate in convenient viewing, eliminating the need to switch inputs between HD and standard television stations. “The SpineDesign, integrated ATSC and NTSC tuners, and multiple high-definition video input options demonstrate the Westinghouse commitment to product excellence,” said Rey Roque, vice president of marketing at Westinghouse Digital Electronics. “The technology innovations featured in our new HDTVs enhance consumers’ digital entertainment experience as well as add a stylish touch to any room, with their sleek, modern design.” The HDTVs also offer an input label function, which enables consumers to identify their input connectors for easy switching between video sources, and the remote control also features three programmable “hot-keys” for fast direct access to favorite channels. The LTV-27w6HD and LTV-32w3HD feature a stylish black chassis with silver trim and a thin, wall-mountable frame with a detachable pedestal. The 16:9 wide aspect ratio is ideal for viewing HD content. Measuring just 4.4 inches deep and weighing about 30 pounds, the TVs can also easily mount onto a wall.  The 27- and 32-inch models feature a native resolution of 1366x768 with more than one million pixels for outstanding picture quality.
