Control4 Begins Shipping WiFi-Enabled Home Automation Products

Control4 announced the availability of its WiFi Control4® Speaker Point™ and Mini Touch Screen. With today’s announcement, these two new products join a growing home automation portfolio from Control4 that meets the entertainment, security, convenience and comfort needs of homeowners. "We are redefining the home automation market by introducing products that are affordable, easy to install, easy to use and are part of a standards-based solution," said Will West, Chief Executive Officer of Control4. "With our new wireless products, now any family can enjoy distributed music and control in each room." Control4 offers both wired and wireless products that can be installed "all at once," or one category at a time as desired. As consumer electronics continue to move toward IP-based standards, Control4 is making the digitally connected home a reality by using the existing home network to deliver benefits to everyday consumers, which were previously only available to the luxury new construction market. The Control4 Speaker Point, with its unique design and wireless capability, receives digital audio, converting and playing music through an integrated 50 watt per channel digital amplifier. Speaker Points provide a cost effective solution for distributing pristine audio throughout the house without RF interference. The Control4 Mini Touch Screen combines the functionality of a full-sized touch screen with a remote audio decoder, into a compact wall mounted or table top device. The Mini Touch Screen utilizes the Control4 Navigator interface, making it an easy-to-use solution for users who appreciate a simple, but powerful interface. By connecting its analog outputs to an amplifier or receiver, the Mini Touch Screen can be also be turned into an additional audio zone. The shipment of these products complements an already robust line of home automation solutions from Control4. In April, the Company began shipping its wired and ZigBee™ (802.15.4) wireless products that are retrofittable into any home to provide reliable, cost-effective home control. The addition of Wi-Fi enabled products, when coupled with Control4's line of wired products, provides users with yet another flexible solution for music, lighting, home theater and climate control. The Control4 Speaker Point and Mini Touch Screen are shipping today and have list prices of $449 and $799 respectively.
