BG launched five new models to round out their Radia Series line of in-wall loudspeakers. The new models, featuring a variety of new driver technologies and design configurations, provide a complete high performance range of custom loudspeaker solutions. The new BG Radia In-Wall models are as follows: R-600 ($3500), R-500 ($2000), R-LCR ($1500), R-320 ($1250) and R-200 ($800). All models are offered as single units and will be available from BG in February 2006. Complete with new ribbon driver technology, a massive machined aluminum front baffle and a powerful LF section, the Radia R-600 represents the finest design and engineering technology at its price point. Consistent with its highly regarded sibling the R-800, the R-600 delivers impressive levels of sensitivity, output and accuracy with overall performance that rivals comparable freestanding loudspeakers. Well suited for either life-like home theater or critical music listening, the R-600 is intended for use as a left/right in-wall loudspeaker. A three-way passive design based on BG’s signature line array concept, the R-600 provides controlled vertical directivity with wide horizontal dispersion for smooth coverage throughout the listening area. The speaker’s dispersion also provides a larger sweet spot than conventional loudspeakers, ideal for flexible location of the speakers or the audience. The R-600’s line array is comprised of four of BG’s exciting Neo10, a 10” X 5” wideband planar ribbon based on the company’s proprietary technology. Significantly larger in size than other BG ribbons, the Neo10 sets new standards for sensitivity, output, power handling and accuracy. In fact, the driver’s size allows it to move substantial amounts of air while keeping diaphragm excursion at relatively low levels. Controlled excursion translates into lower distortion and higher sensitivity while providing amazing clarity and linear response. Complementing the Neo10 system, and positioned to the side, are twelve patented Neo3 planar ribbon tweeters, operating from 1.5 kHz to 20 kHz. Each tweeter is loaded into a deep chamber that effectively absorbs all energy radiated to the rear. Anchoring the R-600’s low frequency section are two long throw, high power dual gap woofers. Each woofer utilizes a 2” voice coil, paper/Kevlar composite cone and an oversized magnet. The high quality components, combined with dual gap topology, deliver extraordinary output and linear response with extremely low distortion. In the heart of the new Radia Series lineup, the R-500 brings vivid clarity and lifelike performance for medium to large home theater or music systems. The frame’s sleek contour, a mere 7” wide, is an ideal architectural complement to large flat TVs- or even large screen projection systems. Yet, the R-500 delivers astounding sonic performance that belies its relatively modest dimensions. Like its two larger siblings, the R-500 features BG’s outstanding Neo10 wideband planar ribbon driver combined with the Neo3 tweeter with the drivers configured in a symmetric controlled directivity array. The particular driver configuration and crossover frequencies were selected so that the vertical directivity of the R-500 is controlled to +/- 20 degrees, remaining constant throughout most of the operational frequency band. This provides effective reduction of floor and ceiling reflections, delivering intelligible and spectrally balanced sound to a wide area of listeners. The R-500’s unique dispersion characteristics offer an additional advantage by allowing more freedom in vertical placement. The speaker can always be sited alongside of the screen, even if the latter is located other than an optimum height. For the bass section, R-500 employs new high-performance 5.25” woofers which feature a powerful Neodymium magnet system and an acoustically transparent chassis. The woofers are optimized for power handling and sensitivity to keep up with the dynamic output of the Neo10 and Neo3 drivers. Additional Radia Series models launched by BG were the R-LCR, R-320 and R-200 all providing complementary loudspeaker solutions. As its name implies, the R-LCR is an evolutionary improvement of its predecessor, designed for in-wall use for Left Center or Right applications in Home Theater or Multi-Channel Audio. The R-LCR’s woofers, upgraded to similar technology as units used in the new Radia R-600 and R-400C, deliver higher power handling with lower distortion. Also based on previous popular Radia in-wall standouts, the R-320 and R-200 are improved models for use as compact Left and Right channel loudspeakers for home theater, audio or multi-room audio. Bass drivers in both models share the high performance woofer technology found in the new Radia R-500. The eight Radia Series In-Wall models, specially engineered to complement one another, are well suited for both home theater and multi-channel audio applications. The entire line has been redesigned with sleek, elegant cosmetics to blend into the most sophisticated interiors. For further customization, each speaker is supplied with paintable grille, paint plug, and standard installation instructions. The R-800, R-400C and R-88 Sub are available now with the R-600, R-500, R-LCR, R-320 and R-200 shipping by February 2006 to authorized BG dealers and export distributors.
