LG Electronics Selects Genesis Microchip's True 10-Bit Plus ''Cortez Advanced'' TV Controller For High-End LCD TVs; TVs Now Available In Europe, Asia, The Americas

Genesis® Microchip Inc. announced that LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics, has designed Genesis Microchip's recently launched Cortez Advanced video controller into its new 32-inch, 37-inch, and 42-inch LCD TVs, models 32/37/42LC2R, 32/37/42LB1R. These advanced televisions are available now in Europe, Asia, South and Central America. "We are very pleased that LG has once again selected Genesis Microchip's award-winning video processing, this time with our new Cortez Advanced solution, for their latest LCD TVs," said Raphael Mehrbians, Genesis Microchip's senior vice president of Product Marketing. The Cortez Advanced series offers several advanced, performance-driven features and technologies to support high demand dual applications. They include 1080p and WUXGA LCD/PDP/DLP panel support, true 10-bit performance throughout the entire device, two 3D 10-bit IntelliComb™ video decoders and two channels of DCDi(R) by Faroudja video processing to support Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP). The controller also integrates a Faroudja DCDi Cinema™ video format converter upgraded to 10-bits, Blue Stretch and flesh-tone correction, and flexible 10-bit sharpening algorithms for main picture and PIP.
