Genesis® Microchip Inc. announced that LG Electronics, a global leader in consumer electronics, has designed Genesis Microchip's recently launched Cortez Advanced video controller into its new 32-inch, 37-inch, and 42-inch LCD TVs, models 32/37/42LC2R, 32/37/42LB1R. These advanced televisions are available now in Europe, Asia, South and Central America. The Cortez Advanced series offers several advanced, performance-driven features and technologies to support high demand dual applications. They include 1080p and WUXGA LCD/PDP/DLP panel support, true 10-bit performance throughout the entire device, two 3D 10-bit IntelliComb™ video decoders and two channels of DCDi(R) by Faroudja video processing to support Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP). The controller also integrates a Faroudja DCDi Cinema™ video format converter upgraded to 10-bits, Blue Stretch and flesh-tone correction, and flexible 10-bit sharpening algorithms for main picture and PIP.
