Sonance, the well respected company that developed the world’s first in-wall loudspeaker system for the consumer market, has introduced a redesigned and improved Virtuoso line of elegant, affordable in-wall and ceiling loudspeakers that can be seamlessly installed in home theater and multi-room audio systems. The redesigned Virtuoso family is comprised of eleven new models which made their debut at the 2006 Consumer Electronics Show. The new Sonance Virtuoso line for 2006 includes four rectangular (in-wall) and seven round (ceiling-type) models. All of these systems are highly accurate, three-way designs featuring separate woofer, midrange, and tweeter drivers and Sonance’s exclusive Sonic EyeÆ assembly which pivots the mid/tweeter for precise direction of the sound toward the main listening area. The new round Virtuoso models feature pivoting woofers that deliver even more image-tailoring flexibility. Two of the new models feature Sonance’s exclusive SSTÆ Single Stereo Technology for the ultimate in space-saving installations. These accept two-channel stereo inputs and deliver surprisingly full, natural stereo sound from a single round location. There is also a new Virtuoso model optimized for surround sound applications. Design savvy consumers who desire an even more refined in-wall look can choose Sonance’s new Architectural Series option which eliminates the visible mounting-flange traditional to in-wall speakers. According to Steve Crawford, Chief Marketing Officer for Sonance, “The result is a sleek appearance that will appeal to even the most aesthetically demanding customer.” Additional options include cloth speaker grilles and retrofittable molded enclosures, or wooden acoustic enclosures that reduce sound spillover into adjacent rooms. All of the new Virtuoso loudspeaker systems feature Sonance’s widely praised RotoLockÆ mounting system, which significantly reduces installation time. The new FastMountÆ positioning tabs let installers “pre-mount” the speakers to work hands-free, further increasing the speed, security, and ease of installation. The rectangular Virtuoso models share installed dimensions of 9-7/8 by 15-15/16 inches, with installed depths of just 3-7/8 inches; the round Virtuoso measures 11-1/4 inches in diameter installed, with a depth of 6-inches mounted depths. To eliminate sound “bleed,” back-boxes are available for all models; a range of optional grille materials offer additional customization.
