Gefen 4x4 HDMI Matrix Integrates Multiple HDTV Sources With HDTV Displays

Digital video solutions provider Gefen shows its new multi-room HDTV coordinator, the 4x4 HDMI Matrix, at EHX Orlando. This rack mountable unit comes with four HDMI inputs and four HDMI outputs capable of connecting up to four rooms at the same time by sending HD signals throughout the home from a single router point. Assigning a source to a room is controlled by an IR remote, with an RS-232 interface provided for home automation control. High definition video up to 1080p plus multichannel digital audio is switched for each source while retaining the sharpness of HD video and digital audio. DVD players, satellite/cable television set-top boxes, DVHS recorders and any HD source equipped with HDMI or DVI connectors can be assigned to a display in any one of four rooms when the HD system is linked to the Matrix. Sending HDTV signals throughout the home beyond its 15-foot specified limitation can be accomplished with Gefen's HDMI and DVI extension solutions, capable of extending HDTV using CAT-5/CAT-6 wiring, multi mode fiber optic cables or long distance HDMI cables with Booster technology.
