HGTV Goes HD, Makes Teranex Video Processors Its Standard

April 18, 2006

Teranex, a division of Silicon Optix and the leader in providing high-performance video processing solutions to the broadcast and post-production market, announces that HGTV will be broadcasting a high definition (HD) version of their very popular channel and has made Teranex video processors its standard. "As far as I'm concerned, Teranex is the only choice for delivering the image quality we require. Powerful features such as Teranex's FlexView(TM) do the best job in the industry at taking 4:3 content and scaling it to a very natural 16:9 aspect ratio," said John Ajamie, senior vice president of broadcast operations and maintenance engineering for Scripps Networks. "We also like the flexibility of Teranex's Video Computer, knowing that through a simple software upgrade, and without any additional system purchases, installation, or training time, we'll be able to take our HD content and convert it for other international markets," Ajamie, continued. Teranex's VC-300 3RU Video Computer performs more than 15 trillion operations per second on a fully programmable platform that allows for rapid tuning of software algorithms. This supercomputer programmability not only ensures product flexibility, but also provides future-proof protection against changing standards and formats. Recently, Silicon Optix and Teranex announced the Realta HQV(R) video processing engine, a powerful and fully programmable single-chip video processor that brings Teranex's Video Computer platform to the home entertainment and professional large-area digital display markets. Realta is available in versions for both the consumer and professional markets and sets a new price-performance standard for the industry.
