DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq:DTSI) announces that Sonic Solutions is licensing the company's new DTS-HD technologies for next generation Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD formats. DTS-HD will be integrated into Sonic's Scenarist(R) and CineVision(TM) products for both HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc authoring and encoding. Introducing an authoring system for both HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc, Sonic will integrate the DTS-HD technology into CineVision to encode all appropriate bit streams for both formats, including DTS-HD Master Audio bit-for-bit streams, DTS-HD constant bit rate streams that are higher resolution than allowed by standard DVD-V, standard DVD-V streams and low bit rate streams for Secondary / Sub audio applications. Scenarist will playback DTS-encoded bit streams, which will enable a user to verify against picture for lip-sync checks before a master is created. "DTS has been working closely with the format developers and professional authoring software market leaders to integrate DTS-HD technology into their products targeting next generation optical disc formats," said Brian Towne, Senior Vice President, Consumer / Pro Audio Division at DTS. "There has been great interest in DTS-HD, and we anticipate a significant number of title releases featuring our bit-for-bit DTS-HD Master Audio by initial product launch." "Sonic Solutions is pleased to include the DTS-HD technology as an ingredient in our leading professional media creation tools," said Rolf Hartley, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Professional Products Group at Sonic. "DTS-HD is the audio format of choice for many of our clients, and this will enable them to create the most advanced soundtracks for their projects without the need to use multiple applications."
