Runco Honors Top Dealers Of 2005 At Annual Mexico Getaway

Runco International, Inc., the world leader in high-end video display and technology, held its annual Mexico Getaway in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Graciously hosted by Sam and Lori Runco at the Meli� Cabo Real Resort, the Runco staff was joined by award-winning dealers, Runco sales representatives, members of the press, industry affiliates, and respective family members for a week-long event. This Marlene and my 10th trip to the annual Mexico Getaway, and as always a highlight of the year and an opportunity to explore issues, technologies, and trends pertinent to home theatre enthusiasts, that we report on in Widescreen Review. This year, one of the hot topics at the roundtables included Runco�s exclusive patent-pending CineWide� technology, which uses electronic processing to stretch a movie image vertically and an anamorphic lens to stretch it horizontally to fill a 2.35:1 screen to reproduce a picture in its original Super Widescreen Cinemascope� format. Runco also held the first ever demo of 1080p with CineWide on the prototype Runco RS-1100 1080p single-chip DLP projector. They also showcased two additional 1080p projectors which are expected to be shipping by CEDIA. When I asked Sam when Runco would incorporate true native 1080p input connectivity he said that all of the Runco projector line would provide 1080p inputs by CEDIA. That is great news for serious home theatre enthusiasts who would like to see 1080p input and output become the standard for "the best that it can be" in picture performance.
