Accell Develops HDMI Switch For High Definition Displays And Projectors

New, innovative UltraAV HDMI 2-to-1 Switch enables A/V enthusiasts to easily connect and change between two HDMI-enabled video sources

May 26, 2006

Accell, a provider of premium audio/video interconnects, today announced its new Accell UltraAV HDMI™ 2-1 Switch for the A/V home theater and presentation markets. The UltraAV HDMI Switch enables concurrent access to two video sources and a wireless remote to easily swap between each device. It will be available in June for $99.99 MSRP. Most new HD displays and projectors are equipped with only one HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) connector requiring consumers to manually connect the source devices or purchase an expensive switch, which at $250 to $300, may be out of reach for many consumers. Common HDMI sources include DVRs, set top boxes, satellite receivers, and DVD players. Accell’s UltraAV HDMI Switch eliminates the need for additional, high-priced hardware by allowing one display to communicate with, and access different video sources within seconds. In addition to working with all HDMI displays and sources, the switch is also backwards compatible with DVI (Digital Visual Interface) devices when used with an HDMI-DVI adapter or cable. “The HD market is growing at an incredible pace including the rapid adoption of displays, projectors, video devices and high definition content services. With most video products standardizing on DVI and HDMI output, many consumers face the dilemma of having several devices vying for one input port,” said Michael Weizer, Accell’s Director of Marketing. “Our new HDMI Switch really simplifies and enhances the viewing experience, providing home theater enthusiasts with the ability to instantly change sources from the comfort of their seat.” The HDMI Switch maintains the highest resolutions of up to 1080p, and is compliant with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) devices. The switch requires no external power and is small and compact for an easy, out of sight installation. It features a wireless remote control, an infrared extender and a built-in manual toggle.
