Verizon, which is celebrating the first anniversary of Verizon FiOS TV, will introduce its fiber-optic-powered TV technology to the home theater industry at CEDIA EXPO 2006 here this week. Verizon also announced it is now a CEDIA member. Verizon makes its CEDIA EXPO debut at Booth #2604. Verizon is also hosting product- training sessions titled "Market Your Business with the Latest TV Technology – Verizon FiOS TV." Verizon is the only service provider that CEDIA has accepted to provide product training at the show. The lead instructor for the course is James Westbrook, president of Home Theater Technologies in Keller, Texas, the first dealer to offer Verizon FiOS TV service. (Note: reporters can contact Verizon spokesperson Sharon Cohen-Hagar to schedule interviews with Westbrook and Verizon.) "Our experience with Home Theater Technologies shows that both retailers and Verizon benefit from this kind of collaboration," said Matt Wilson, director of indirect distribution for Verizon. "Home Theater Technologies saw an immediate increase in traffic with FiOS, while Verizon had a high-profile, high-tech showcase for its service. Technicians from both industries also benefit from collaborative learning on home-theater installations." Said Westbrook, "Home Theater Technologies tapped into customers who would not have come to us had we not advertised the Verizon FiOS experience. This is a huge win for both companies and our customers." During the course, Westbrook and Verizon representatives will discuss techniques for using FiOS TV to market a home-theater business. Topics include pre-wire requirements, network requirements and troubleshooting. The session will also include a demonstration of FiOS TV's newest service, Home Media DVR. Launched in August, Home Media DVR combines a multi-room digital video recorder with Media Manager, a feature that lets subscribers view photos and listen to music stored on their PCs through their TV. The training sessions (Course Code: MPT413) will be offered Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Friday and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., in Hyatt, Mineral F.
