Bag End Subwoofers Installed In State-Of-The-Art Home Theatre Reference Room

As part of its sponsorship of the facility, DTS Europe provided the BAFTA (British Academy for Film and Television Arts) with an 11 foot ( 3.3 meter) Screen Research screen and a high quality 7.1 speaker system for the Run Run Shaw room in the BAFTA headquarters at 195 Piccadilly, London, England, making it a reference facility for the British film, broadcast, gaming, music and home video industry. BAG END supplied the subwoofer for this installation in the form of a D-18-i. DTS's objective for this installation was to present very high quality video and surround-sound audio in a setting that emulates a home environment, with entertainment sources being fed from DVD, game consoles, Sky and Freeview set-top-boxes, PC and, in the near future, HD-DVD and Blu-ray Disc. Video is provided via a high quality video projector and a Screen Research acoustically transparent projection screen. This allows for both an amazing picture and the highest quality of sound from the speakers behind it. Named in honor of BAFTA supporter Sir Run Run Shaw, the Hong Kong-based film and television producer and media mogul, this theatre is used by the British film industry, BAFTA members, movie studios, film production companies, TV broadcasters and home entertainment technology companies to showcase their work, in a reference-quality environment.
