Top CEA Analyst To Assess Consumer Electronics Trends At Samsung ''Future Unlimited'' Conference

October 31, 2006

Which consumer electronics (CE) products are expected to lead the sector during the course of the next decade, and what will be the impact on the global semiconductor industry? These questions and others examining consumer usage trends and overall market direction will be the focus of Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) Director of Industry Analysis Sean Wargo’s presentation at the first Samsung Semiconductor executive summit. The “futureUNLIMITED” summit will be held November 15 at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose. Wargo will speak at 9:15 a.m. Industry executives and market analysts have concurred that consumer electronics – cell phones, digital audio, digital cameras and other applications – are leading the growth for the worldwide semiconductor industry. This has resulted in an increased demand for NAND flash, DRAM, LCD flat panels and other IC-based components. In his presentation, Wargo will present CEA consumer and market research data exploring the following subjects: * What are the most popular consumer products? * Which products are anticipated to lead CE sales in five-to-10 years? * What are the market forecasts for these product categories? * What will be the market direction for increased consumer usage? * How are consumers acquiring CE content? The Wednesday, November 15 conference, which is aimed at industry executives, product marketing managers and senior designers, will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will be followed by a reception at approximately 5:15 p.m. Sponsors for the event include Advanced Micro Devices; CMP Electronics Group, the Common Platform Technology Alliance – IBM, Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing and Samsung; Denali Software, EDN, Inphi Corporation, Microsoft Windows Vista, Penton Media and SiliconSystems.
