Syntax-Brillian Partners With Premier Image Technology Corp. To Manufacture Digital Entertainment Products And Components

Agreement Provides for Manufacturing of Digital Cameras, LCD TVs and Front & Rear Projection LCoS(TM) Light Engines

Syntax-Brillian Corporation (Nasdaq:BRLC), a manufacturer and marketer of LCD and LCoS(TM) HDTVs, digital entertainment products and near-to-eye products, has entered into a comprehensive supply agreement with Premier Image Technology Corp. ("Premier") under which the Taiwan-based company will manufacture a range of digital entertainment products and components to support Syntax-Brillian's global distribution channels, including digital cameras, LCD TVs, front and rear projection LCoS(TM) light engines, near-to-eye products, and other products that may be developed in the future. "Premier has a proven track record in the manufacture of high-quality, state-of-the-art digital imaging and optical products, including digital cameras and components," said Vincent Sollitto, CEO of Syntax-Brillian Corporation. On October 30, 2006 Syntax-Brillian agreed to acquire Vivitar Corporation, an Oxnard, California-based leader in the design, development and marketing of photographic, optical, electronic and digital imaging products. Syntax-Brillian will produce and market digital entertainment products under the Vivitar brand for distribution through existing international sales channels. Under the supply agreement, a portion of these products, as well as Olevia-brand TVs and other components, will be manufactured by Premier. Premier is the leading digital still camera manufacturer in Taiwan. On October 27, 2006 Premier announced that it will formally merge with global electronics manufacturing service provider Foxconn (the registered trade name of Hon Hai Precision Industry) effective December 1, 2006. Taiwan-based Foxconn is the largest electronics manufacturing service provider in the world by revenue with sales of $27.3 billion in 2005.
