Anchor Bay's ABT1018 Video-Scaling ASIC Chosen For Teac Esoteric's DV-60 SACD/CD/DVD Player

DV-60 Is Second Esoteric Component to Utilize Anchor Bay's Precision Video Scaling

November 13, 2006

Anchor Bay, a leading supplier of video-processing semiconductors (ASICs) and systems, today announced that its ABT1018 video-scaling ASIC " part of its Video Reference Series˙ (VRS˙) " has been chosen by Teac Esoteric for its new DV-60 Super Audio CD/CD/DVD universal player. The DV-60 is the second component from Esoteric to implement the ABT1018, joining the recently announced P-03 Universal. The DV-60 is the newest addition to the acclaimed Esoteric DV series, and it features unique upconversion capabilities and multichannel analog audio outputs that support multichannel Super Audio CD and DVD audio/video information. A new D/A converter, upgraded 14-bit video-processing technologies, and evolved external control functions add to the universal player's enhancements. With the ABT1018, the DV-60 is able to supply high-resolution images directly to the display using its HDMI output, completely bypassing the display's internal processing chip. "Simply put, Anchor Bay's Precision Video Scaling offers the best solution for Esoteric because of the competitive pricing and ease of install," said Hiroyuki Hoshino, R&D manager for Teac Esoteric. "Our customers expect an extremely high level of performance from our components, and Anchor Bay's scaling technology helps us deliver on our promise." The ABT1018 is Anchor Bay's second-generation video-scaling ASIC targeted at DVD players/recorders, HDTV set-top boxes, and A/V receiver applications requiring upconversion from standard- and high-definition formats up to 1080p. The scaling chip features a proprietary 10-bit Precision Video Scaling engine that can independently scale an image horizontally and vertically to achieve outstanding picture quality for today's high-resolution video displays. "Anchor Bay is proud to have our Precision Video Scaling featured in the P-03 Universal and DV-60 Super Audio CD/CD/DVD players," said Craig Soderquist, CEO at Anchor Bay. "Esoteric has earned great respect in the industry for creating reference-quality components. The company's selection of our scaling technology further demonstrates its commitment to producing the finest products available." Anchor Bay's Precision Video Scaling is but one of the video-processing solutions marketed under the VRS umbrella. Other VRS brand technologies include Anchor Bay's RightRate, AutoCUE-C, Precision AV LipSync, and the new Precision Deinterlacing technology.
