Anchor Bay's DVDO IScan VP50 Chosen For HD DVD Mobile Experience Tour

Advanced Video System Delivers Stunning 1080p Images in Traveling Interactive Demonstration

Anchor Bay, a leading supplier of video processing semiconductors (ASICs) and systems, today announced that its iScan VP50 - part of its DVDO® line of high-definition video processing systems - has been chosen by the North American HD DVD Promotional Group, Inc. to supply 1080p/24 signal processing technology for its traveling home theater demonstration. The HD DVD Mobile Experience Tour is traveling city to city throughout North America in an "HD DVD experience on wheels" to allow consumers a chance to experience the new HD DVD technology at its very best. On the tour, Anchor Bay's DVDO iScan VP50 is being used in a home theater system to feed a 1080p/48fps signal from an HD DVD player to a Marantz VP11-S1 1080p DLP front projector. Specifically, Anchor Bay's VRS˙ RightRate˙ is being utilized to "lock" the incoming 1080i/60-Hz video signal to a smooth, judder-free 1080p/48fps output. The VP50 features all of the processing power of Anchor Bay's Video Reference Series˙ (VRS) technologies. VRS 10-bit Precision Video Scaling II˙ independently scales an image horizontally and vertically to achieve outstanding picture quality for today's high-resolution video displays. VRS HD Precision Deinterlacing˙ provides five-field motion adaptive and edge adaptive processing for an artifact-free viewing experience. VRS Progressive Re-Processing (PReP˙) is a breakthrough technology that undoes poor deinterlacing from source equipment such as DVD players by recovering the original interlaced formats from 480p, 576p, and 1080p inputs, which are then deinterlaced again with Anchor Bay's superior technology. The VP50 ships with several accessories, including a USB-to-serial adapter for software updates and a newly developed Anchor Bay test disk for calibration. Anchor Bay designed the VP50 to allow for future enhancements such as input and expansion modules, and to be upgradeable with VRS technologies that are currently under development.
