The ESOTERIC Division of TEAC America is now distributing the company’s new A/V disc player model DV-60. It is the first of its kind with selectable PCM to DSD signal converter, unique up conversion capabilities for Redbook CD and multi-channel audio support for SACD, DVD-A and DVD-V. The DV-60 also provides video scaling at HD resolutions of 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p, output directly to a compatible display, without the need for new software. The DV-60 succeeds Esoteric’s award winning DV-50S and was developed by the TEAC Esoteric Company of Japan. The player up-converts CD audio over a wide range of options, topping out at 24bit, 32 times oversampling. The DV-60 also allows signal conversion of PCM digital audio to the direct stream digital (DSD) format at 1bit/64 times over-sampling. A new D/A converter and upgraded 14-bit video-processing, Faroudja’s I/P conversion processor chip with DCDi technology and evolved external control functions add to the universal player's enhancements. The DV-60 also includes Anchor Bay Technologies ABT1018 video-scaling ASIC, part of their second generation Video Reference Series (VRS) providing HD resolution to the players HDMI output. With the ABT1018, the DV-60 is able to supply high-resolution HD images directly to a compatible HD display, completely bypassing the display's internal processing chip. According to an Esoteric spokesperson, “The DV-60 was designed to provide an upgrade path for a consumer’s entire CD/DVD collection, to state of the art audio reproduction and HD video resolution including 1080p, both achieved without having to buy new software. When combined with our vertically aligned optical stability platform (VOSP), these new A/V technologies create a reference platform for existing software.” Specifications on the DV-60 can be found at: http://www.teac.com/esoteric/DV-60.html. The commercial grade DV-60 is available now through Esoteric’s dealer network at a MSRP of $5600.00.
