LG Electronics, Inc. (LG) and Zodiac Interactive today announced they are demonstrating two-way interactive digital cable services running on LG's OpenCable(TM) Application Platform (OCAP(TM))-compliant HDTV that was certified at a recent CableLabs(R) test wave for OpenCable Host. The HDTV is equipped with an industry leading high performance chipset and uses technology licensed from CableLabs; CHILA (CableCard Host Interface Licensing Agreement) and OCAP License Agreement. The services and application demonstrations include a complete User Interface (UI) implemented in OCAP running on Zodiac's PowerUp(TM) OCAP Framework. These demonstrations will be held at 2007 International CES, January 8-11 in Las Vegas in LG Electronics' Booth #8214. LG and Zodiac Interactive have been collaborating on the new CableLabs' OCAP UI for HDTV, which is an industry-first High-Definition (HD), widescreen format UI with enhanced capabilities. With this new environment, cable subscribers can download and enjoy enhanced HD OCAP interactive TV applications. "We are getting ready to commercialize LG OpenCable products through interactive digital cable-ready TVs and set-top boxes," said Dr. Choon Lee, Head of DTV Laboratory at LG Electronics, Inc. "Building on the success of our cooperation with Zodiac Interactive, LG will collaborate with multiple major cable MSOs and retail partners around this OpenCable-compliant HDTV platform." "LG's endorsement of Zodiac Interactive, along with our compelling demonstration for CES 2007, validates the appeal of our products and technology in the Consumer Electronics space," said Zodiac Interactive's CEO Michael Rivkin. "Since its inception in 2002, Zodiac has been recognized for Emmy-nominated games and the Emmy-winning IO User Interface Platform for Cablevision Systems Corporation, as well as innovative technologies that enable a wide variety of tools and applications on virtually all interactive television platforms."
