The U.S. Display Consortium (USDC), a public/private partnership chartered with developing the flat panel display (FPD) industry infrastructure, today announced the keynote speakers for its upcoming Displays & Emerging Electronics Investment Conference. Co-sponsored by Needham & Company, LLC, a nationally recognized investment banking and asset management firm, the conference will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 at the Millennium Broadway Hotel in New York City. The preliminary agenda features an impressive lineup of speakers from public and private companies across the electronic display value-chain, as well as from expert market analysts. "The investment community relies upon the Display Industry Investment Conference for annual, in-depth insights into the display industry," stated Michael Ciesinski, chief executive officer of USDC. "We are pleased to be teaming with Needham & Co. once again to bring this valuable forum to the financial community. In addition to displays, the conference agenda expands this year to encompass printed and organic electronics, which is emerging as a potential leading force behind the next revolution in the electronics industry." David Barnes, vice president of strategic analysis for market research firm DisplaySearch, will kick off the agenda with a morning keynote address on the market conditions and outlook for the LCD industry. LCDs have now achieved 25-percent of the television market share, and Barnes will address how tightening capacity in this and other segments of the display industry will impact continued growth prospects. The luncheon keynote will be delivered by Tom Edman, vice president and general manager for the Emerging Business Group at Applied Materials. Edman, formerly president and chief operating officer of Applied Films, will review manufacturing challenges presented by "Tomorrow's Fabs." Kenny Kim, senior vice president of Korean display market research firm, DisplayBank, will close the conference with an afternoon address on technology and market trends. The agenda also features senior executives and analysts from a diverse group of private and public companies at the forefront of the US$76 billion electronic display industry, including: Activision TV, Bright View, Cambridge Display Technology, Daktronics, DuPont, Fusion Optix, Genesis Microchip, Insight Media, Integral Vision, Kodak, Nuelight, Novalux, Orbotech, Photon Dynamics, Presstek, Roam Consulting, Silecs, Uni-Pixel, Universal Display Corporation, White Electronic Designs and Zygo Corporation.
