MGM Home Entertainment Scores With Hoosiers On Blu-ray Disc On March 13

Available Just In Time For March Madness, MGM’s Sports Classic Offers Hoops With Heart; Stunning Visuals And Pristine Picture Showcase The ‘Slam Dunk’ Sound Of The Format

March 8, 2007

Hailed by Sports Illustrated and ESPN as one of the best sports movies of all time, MGM Home Entertainment debuts Hoosiers on BD March 13, 2007. One of the most moving and acclaimed depictions of small-town basketball, Hoosiers stars two-time Oscar®-winner Gene Hackman (Best Actor, The French Connection; 1971, Best Supporting Actor, Unforgiven; 1992) and Dennis Hopper (Speed), who earned a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his commanding performance in the film. Hoosiers, which joins the MGM Home Entertainment BD line-up just in time for college basketball’s “March Madness,” showcases stellar picture quality and audiovisual clarity found only in high-definition. The Hoosiers BD will be available on March 13, 2007 for the suggested retail price of $39.98 U.S. / $49.98 Canada. Pre-book is February 14, 2007. Gene Hackman is Norman Dale, a basketball coach who’s checkered past has led him to a last-chance position with a last-chance team. Made to feel unwelcome by squad members, an icy fellow teacher and townspeople who nearly have him fired, Dale perseveres with a gritty demeanor and an unwavering passion for the game. But winning over the team is only half the battle in a world where small-town teams can end up playing big-time rivals…and a downtrodden outsider can rouse the pride of an entire town. Blu-Ray Disc Features: Hoosiers BD is authored in HDMV (mpeg-2) on a Single Layer (25gb) disc and presented with 5.1 DTS HD Lossless Master Audio, as well as English Dolby Surround 4.0 and English, French and Spanish subtitles.
