A key annual event for the home entertainment industry calendar returns to Los Angeles June 18 and 19 as Home Media Magazine presents the Sixth Annual Home Entertainment Summit: DVD and Beyond. This year’s event, again held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, expands to two days and focuses on the three key components of today’s home entertainment market: DVD, next-generation high-definition optical disc and electronic delivery.There will be three tracks of seminars and workshops, as well as two market research super sessions featuring the latest findings from Understanding & Solutions and other key analysts and market researchers. The DVD track will feature the return of the celebrated Presidents Panel as well as focused sessions on the state of the business, future projections, the TV DVD market and other key issues. The “Next Generation” track will explore the future of packaged media and provide updates on the progress Blu-ray Disc and HD DVD are making in the market. And the “Electronic Delivery” track will provide a comprehensive look at all the ways consumers are bringing entertainment into the home, from dedicated movie downloading services such as Movielink and CinemaNow to video-sharing sites, Intel’s Viiv and other delivery mechanisms. Also on tap are the third annual DVD Critics Awards: The Perfect Ten, in which top DVD releases from the past year will be recognized by an esteemed panel of DVD critics from around the country. The conference also will provide many networking opportunities, including a cocktail party, a dinner, two breakfasts, two lunches and several breaks. The luncheon will feature product presentations and a distinctive keynote speaker. The cocktail party and dinner will celebrate DVD’s 10th birthday and the 10th anniversary of the founding of DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group. The summit is produced by Home Media Magazine in cooperation with DEG: The Digital Entertainment Group, the Entertainment Merchants Association and The Hollywood Reporter. This year’s event takes on special significance as it coincides with the 10th birthday of the DVD format. The Sixth Annual Home Entertainment Summit is expected to once again attract more than 300 of the home entertainment industry’s top movers and shakers, from studio executives, DVD producers and key retailers to prominent Wall Street and entertainment analysts and members of the media.
