E-Recycling Of California Hosts A Series Of Free Electronic Waste Collection Events On Earth Day

e-Recycling of California (ERC) is hosting two FREE Electronic Waste Collection events in Roseville and Fremont on Earth Day to promote their Zero Waste goal. The purpose of the collection events is to reach out to consumers and make them aware of the proper methods of disposal of "electronic waste." Many Californians are unaware that it is illegal and harmful to throw certain electronic products such as televisions and computer monitors, in the trash because of the heavy amounts of lead and other hazardous constituents that are contained in electronic products Consumers are encouraged to drop off their unwanted televisions, stereos and any other household electronics to the participating Wal-Mart locations. ERC has created an additional incentive for consumers to participate by offering a free raffle drawing for a five hundred dollar gift card good at Wal-Mart to reward consumers for their recycling efforts on Earth Day. Visit the convenient parking lot drop off location. ERC staff will be on-hand to answer general questions about recycling and specific questions about electronic waste recycling. "Earth Day serves as a reminder that we should all be doing our part to preserve and protect our environment," said Margo Reid Brown, California Integrated Waste Management Board Chair. "These events are meant to inform consumers that electronic products can be conveniently reused, refurbished or recycled." ERC is a proud approved collector and recycler in the California Electronic Waste Recovery Program. ERC processes over twenty million pounds of electronic waste annually out of their Hayward and Paramount, California, plants. ERC achieves a ninety eight percent electronic waste recycling rate.
