The 860 Stereo Amplifier is the first "traditional" two channel amplifier in the 800 Series, producing a healthy 150 watts of wide-bandwidth, high-current power into any load. Featuring a full-balanced three-stage input section and complete logic control, the 860 is capable of serving as the foundation upon which to build a high-performance two-channel system as well as providing a full array of external control connections, triggers, and Boulderlink so that it can be integrated seamlessly into an automated theater installation. Surface mount technology, full microprocessor monitoring and control, and a complete array of protection circuits round out the package to deliver total peace of mind along with peerless sonics. Incorporating less complex chassis work, lower power output, and a smaller footprint to reduce manufacturing costs without changing the performance for which we've become renowned, the 860 is the giant killer instead of the giant in our product line. With a total weight of 45 pounds and a size of 17" (W) x 7.40" (H) x 15.25" (D), the 860 manages to squeeze every drop of delicacy and emotion from music and cinema soundtracks without sacrificing any of the phenomenal power and control of its larger brethren. The 860 Stereo Amplifier is priced at US$8,500 and offers access to truly exceptional performance and build quality at a price well below any previous offering from Boulder. In tandem with the 860 Stereo Amplifier, Boulder is releasing the long awaited 865 Integrated Amplifier. Long in demand in both the US and overseas as a cost- and space-conscious solution, Boulder has combined the 810 Stereo Preamplifier and 860 Stereo Amplifier in a single chassis to create an altogether complete product with amazingly pure performance. Compact by Boulder standards at 52 lbs. and 17" (W) x 7.40" (H) x 15.25" (D), the 865 is capable of driving any loudspeaker to realistic levels with 150 watts of output power from a chassis that can be placed on a table-top, a custom wall enclosure, or be rack mounted without fear of overheating. By using the latest surface mount technology in order to keep the overall footprint small, the 865 features a full-function, software controlled and programmable preamplifier section full-balanced preamplifier section without sacrificing performance by placing it in a chassis in such close proximity to a high-power, high-current amplifier section. The 865 is capable of amazing speed, solidity, and delicacy in both spirited music passages as well as the most dynamically demanding film soundtracks via the use of a microprocessor controlled Theater Bypass function. The 865 is loaded with external control system connections for IR input and throughput, 12V triggering, and Boulderlink in communication with the microprocessor section to allow seamless ease of use in the simplest as well as the most complex installations. The price of the 865 has been set at US$11,500 to allow an entirely new audience to experience true Boulder amplification and preamplification in a single chassis, yet at a price lower than any combination of Boulder separates at any time previous in our history. On an entirely different note, those of you who appreciate good video reproduction as well as music should check out and buy (new, not used for reasons explained below!) a DVD by the title of Lightning In A Bottle. The film features a veritable who's who of blues musicians, historical footage, and legends performing at a benefit concert at New York City's Radio City Music Hall in 2003. It's fun just to watch to see who may be hidden in the background somewhere. Well filmed by Martin Scorsese, EXTREMELY well performed, good and real sound, and with all profits going towards a good cause - to help and benefit blues musicians who never made it on a level with Buddy Guy or Muddy Waters - it's good demo material as well as fun to watch. Boulder has no gain from the sales of the DVD, we just like sharing this stuff once in a while. Enjoy!
