MicroDisplay Corporation, maker of large format liquid crystal on silicon (LCOS) projection HDTVs, today announced that it will be participating in two key industry tradeshows happening the week of June 18 in Anaheim, California. At the 2007 Projection Summit conference being held at the Anaheim Marriott hotel June 17 - 18, MicroDisplay Corporation Vice President of Marketing Marty Zanfino will speak on the topic of Projection Manufacturing Trends. The session will be held on the afternoon of June 18 and will focus on how microdisplay projection televisions (MDTVs) can remain viable and competitive in today's market. Mr. Zanfino, a 30-year veteran of the consumer electronics industry, will provide valuable insight on the competitive landscape and detail how innovative designs, lower cost manufacturing and new business models can help the MDTV industry survive and even become a disruptive force in the market. MicroDisplay Corporation is partnering with Gennum Corporation (TSX:GND) to showcase MicroDisplay's 56-inch digital projection HDTV at the Gennum booth (Booth #7040) at InfoComm 2007, held June 19 - 21 at the Anaheim Convention Center. The MicroDisplay TV platform uses Gennum's GF9450 image processor, featuring its award-winning VXP(R) technology, as a solution for de-interlacing, scaling, noise reduction and detail enhancement. "MicroDisplay has invested substantial effort in developing its revolutionary Liquid Fidelity(TM) LCOS technology and has also carefully evaluated our products' supporting components," said Marty Zanfino, MicroDisplay Corporation's vice president of marketing. "Gennum's innovative image processing technology provides superior video processing capabilities, enabling us to deliver an exceptional LCOS HDTV." At the Gennum booth, InfoComm attendees will be able to experience how MicroDisplay's Liquid Fidelity single-chip LCOS technology produces a smooth, natural picture with a fine texture, accurate colors and a fast response time for a film-like home theater experience. Liquid Fidelity is also less expensive to manufacture and align because it eliminates two of the three chips required by other LCOS technologies, allowing MicroDisplay's partners to enter the lucrative HDTV market at highly competitive price points. MicroDisplay Corporation is the first company to mass-produce LCOS devices with the rapid response times necessary for use in a single-chip design. About MicroDisplay MicroDisplay Corporation, a Silicon Valley start-up, designs, develops, and manufactures state-of-the-art high-definition digital televisions (HDTVs) based on its proprietary "Liquid Fidelity" single-panel Liquid Crystal on Silicon (LCOS) projection technology. MicroDisplay Corporation's HDTVs provide true two-million-pixel resolution with the precise convergence only achievable from a single-panel imaging device.
