Bag End's Double-10 Subwoofer Now Available In Self-Powered Version

July 26, 2007

BAG END Loudspeaker System’s very popular double-10 subwoofer system is now available in a self-powered version – the PD10E-I. The PD10E-I is specifically designed to fit into locations where space is at a premium. The system packs a lot of bass into a small cabinet, thanks to the company’s exclusive INFRA technology that provides high-fidelity yet compact bass sound. The PD10E-I subwoofer system is designed to operate below resonance by utilizing the external Infra dual integrator processor, and is ½ to ¼ the size of conventional systems, yet offers a lower frequency response. The system provides perfectly flat frequency response down to as low as 8 Hertz. With its extremely coherent time response, the D10 blends well with most upper range systems, adding the feeling of power and authority to the sound at both low and high listening levels. The PD10E-I carries the further distinction of being self-powered, thanks to the built-in Minima One internal modular amplifier, creating even more space-savings. The Minima One is a 1,000-watt hi-fidelity, high efficiency amplifier that weighs just 5 lbs. “The Minima One on-board powered system option insures our end users the reliable high-performance, powered solution that sound designers and sound reinforcement contractors have been demanding,” BAG END President Jim Wischmeyer said. The Minima One is more than 80% efficient, providing more power to the loudspeaker and creating less heat in the amplifier than conventional designs. Incorporating patented technology, the comparison circuit of the module corrects each individual cycle. On average, every 4 microseconds, the one-cycle modulator transforms and amplifies the input signal into the ideal, natural pulse width modulation. Switching at 250 kHz with the single cycle error correction insures low distortion and high reliability. In addition, the power-factor corrected AC power input automatically, and continually, adapts to any voltage between 88 and 270 volts, thus making it convenient to power, and stable to use, on any power grid, anywhere in the world.
