Made for serious listening, the Jamo Concert series has always been the very embodiment of Danish sound design—cutting-edge technology enclosed in beautifully crafted cabinets. So, now that the company is adding six entry-level models to this high-acclaimed family, even more consumers can afford to enjoy their splendor. Following in the footsteps of the C 80 and C 60 series, the new C 400 lineup brings ultra-rigid front baffles, technologically-advanced drive units, and top-quality finishes to very reasonable price points. Plus, these latest models continue to utilize the following proprietary Jamo technologies: Decoupled Tweeter Technology (DTT) – This patent-pending mounting system prevents unwanted cabinet vibrations that can cloud and color sound. WaveGuide Technology – This exclusive technology helps control the sound pattern for a more open and dynamic experience as well as makes it easier to position the speakers in a room. Hard Conical Cones (HCC) – This technology allows for extremely low distortion throughout the range as well as creates a very open and detailed mid-range for optimum voice reproduction. Available in black ash or dark apple finishes, the C 400 series consists of the following: C 407 – Standing just over a meter tall, this elegant floorstanding speaker is a three-way, bass-reflex configuration. While its maximum power handling is 220 watts, its low-frequency response extends to a generous 35Hz. C 405 – A smaller floorstanding design, this model is a two-way, bass-reflex design that employs two 6.5-inch (165mm) bass drivers alongside a 1-inch (25mm) DTT tweeter, creating a high sensitivity of 89dB. C 403 – A two-way, bass-reflex design, this speaker is intended for stand or bookshelf mounting. It utilizes a single 5.5-inch (140mm) driver alongside a 1-inch (25mm) DTT tweeter. C 401 – As the smallest of the bunch, this compact satellite speaker is great for use in 2.1-, 5.1-, and 7.1-channel systems or alongside a micro hi-fi receiver. It employs a single 4-inch (102mm) mid/bass driver and a 1-inch (25mm) tweeter in a bass-reflex cabinet. C 400 CEN – This center channel speaker plays an important role in delivering a multi-channel system's dialogue. It is a two-way, bass-reflex design that utilizes the same 1-inch (25mm) DTT tweeter as the other C 400 models as well as dual 4-inch (102mm) mid/bass drive units. C 400 SUR – This compact, well-engineered dipolar speaker is great for rear-channel home theater surround sound use. For increased low-frequency response, Jamo recommends pairing the C 400 series up with its existing SUB 650 or SUB 550 subwoofers. Both models are available in black ash or dark apple finishes. SUB 650 – A sealed-box design, this subwoofer is the heaviest-hitting option with a front-firing 12-inch (305mm) low-throw woofer. With 650 watts of peak power, the SUB 650 thunders out the most dynamic special effects with ease, down to a knee-trembling 24Hz. SUB 550 – The smaller SUB 550 sports a 10-inch (254mm) woofer in a slotted port cabinet and is driven by a 550-watt amplifier. Its front-mounted volume control makes for easy adjustments and you can expect a smooth, low-frequency response down to 26Hz. Editor's Notes: Decoupled Tweeter Technology (DTT) One of the biggest challenges when designing speakers is preventing unwanted cabinet vibrations from clouding or coloring the sound. High frequencies are particularly susceptible. This problem is solved in the C 400 series by using the ingenious Jamo DTT tweeter mounting system. By decoupling the tweeter from the rest of the loudspeaker, vibrations transmitted from the front baffle to the tweeter are reduced by more than 20dB, resulting in an uncommonly detailed and realistic reproduction of high frequencies.
