August 29, 2007

Silicon Optix, the leader in advanced video processors, announced today that the PAL version of its HQV Benchmark DVD is available to consumers. The test disc is available for an MSRP of $20 (USD) and can be ordered from http://www.hqv.com. The PAL HQV Benchmark lets anyone objectively evaluate the picture quality of video products, including displays, DVD players, A/V receivers, and projectors, and completes the range of HQV Benchmarks, which includes versions in NTSC and high-definition formats, Blu-ray and HD DVD. "Now, for the first time, PAL consumers have the ability to test before they buy, so they can determine which products deliver the best image quality for their budget," said Jordan Du Val, Silicon Optix's VP of Marketing. "The PAL HQV Benchmark includes an instruction guide that details how to use the disc and develop an objective score for the product you're testing." "The PAL HQV Benchmark is already being used by journalists worldwide as a trusted source for product reviews. These discs allow consumers to test like the pros do," continued Du Val. The video clips and test patterns on this DVD have been mastered in PAL and carefully designed to evaluate a variety of video signal-processing tasks, including deinterlacing, noise reduction, film cadence detection, and detail enhancement. The ultimate quality of the image displayed can be limited by any and all of these steps. High-definition versions, available on Blu-ray and HD DVD, are also available for $20 (USD). Visit http://www.hqv.com. Silicon Optix's HQV video processing can be found in products from top-tier manufacturers such as Toshiba, Mitsubishi, Denon, Onkyo, Samsung, and Syntax-Brillian.
