NAD Electronics introduces the L 54 DVD/Receiver, a stylish, compact, affordable and multiple audio/video solution, at CEDIA EXPO ’07. The L 54 is ideal for apartments, vacation homes, bedrooms, dorm rooms, and any other place where big sound is required, but space is limited or simplicity is desired. The L 54 is also a near perfect solution for people who demand superb performance along with stylish design and ease of use. The L54 is designed to make music with all the intensity and emotional involvement contained in the original performance. Advanced engineering drawn from NAD’s 30-year history of developing award-winning products endows the L 54 with the ability to accurately convey every nuance of an artist’s performance. High-current power supplies, discrete transistor output stages, and carefully selected components and circuit layout ensure imperceptible levels of distortion and a crisp power delivery. The subwoofer output allows full compatibility with any of the many excellent powered subwoofers currently available. Whether a consumer’s primary interest is listening to music, or watching the latest blockbuster, the L 54 is fully up to the task. Users just need add good speakers and a TV or video monitor of their choosing for a level of performance usually associated with far costlier separate components. Elegantly proportioned, and designed to complement today's advanced video displays, the L 54 includes the latest digital video decoders. However, first and foremost, the L 54 is all about the music, boasting an integrated two-channel 50-watt amplifier (20Hz-20kHz) rated at <0.08% THD with both channels driven into 8 Ohms. Despite its compact size, the L 54 is more than powerful enough to provide satisfying musical performance, and NAD’s signature sonic quality. The built-in DVD player supports DVD-Video, VCD, SVCD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP-3, J-PEG, WMA and DivX formats. The dual standard (NTSC and PAL) DVD section features progressive scan with Component Video output. Ideal for discriminating consumers who prefer not to fill their rooms with equipment, the L 54 also features SRS 3D circuitry that emulates surround sound using only a pair of loudspeakers, making it fully capable of providing movie lovers with the high-impact audio dynamic movie soundtracks demand. The L 54 is simple to set up and easy to operate. It offers a wide range of DVD features, and a built-in AM/FM tuner that includes 30 favorite station presets that can be custom named. They can also display, for stations supporting the Radio Data System (RDS), an automatic stream of information about the music being played and the station. The L 54 can be used with any high-quality video display through the supplied Component, Composite, and S-Video outputs. Two digital inputs (one optical, one coaxial) permit additional sources to be connected. An optical digital output allows connection to a CD recorder or other digital recording device. High-quality loudspeaker binding posts and a subwoofer line level output with level adjustment take L 54 a step further than many other compact designs. All features are easily accessed with the supplied learning remote, which can also operate almost any other IR remote controlled device. Its logical layout and illuminated keys make operation straightforward, and the remote’s ability to learn commands for up to eight other devices eliminates the clutter of multiple handsets.
