August 30, 2007

Jamo has launched three new fire-rated back box enclosures that allow residential contractors to meet building codes as well as diminish the undesirable transfer of sound from one room to another. Manufactured from high-grade cold-rolled steel and featuring a layer of insulation, the FRB8.5, and FRB6.5 back boxes are designed to fit most Jamo in-ceiling speakers with 8- or 6.5-inch woofers, while the FRB6 accommodates Jamo in-wall models with 6.5-inch woofers. All of the back boxes exceed the one-hour fire-rating specifications and meet UL2043 requirements for installation in plenum spaces. They have also been tested to meet UL 263, ASTM E119-98, NFPA 251, UBC 7-1, and ULC CAN/ULC-S101 – M89 standards. These enclosures fit 16- or 24-inch stud spans. Each back box includes a standard conduit connector and features pre-drilled holes to simplify the installation process and ensure that all safety requirements are met. Available for purchase now, the FRB8.5 carries a U.S. MSRP of $89 each, while the FRB6.5 and FRB6 are $79 each.
