Sunfire Rewrites The Book On Bass With Powerful New “Flat Panel” Subwoofers

September 5, 2007

Sunfire Corp. introduced their XT-Series family of SubRosa™ In-Wall and On-Wall subwoofers to CEDIA attendees. Along with their stealthy profile, these two high performance subs couple 2700 watts of legendary Sunfire power with revolutionary StillBass™ anti-shake technology that reduces unwanted wall vibrations, delivering cleaner, tighter more musical bass. As the world’s most powerful in-wall subwoofer, the SRS-210W combines dual 10” High Back-emf drivers designed specifically for in-wall or on-wall use. Custom engineered by Sunfire to match the SubRosa amplifiers’ unprecedented power, the robust drivers feature inverted surrounds and die-cast baskets for highest performance. Utilizing the same low-profile, custom 10” woofers, the SRS-210R stands a mere 3.75” deep – making it the world’s first flat panel, high-performance subwoofer that gracefully complements popular wall-mounted flat screen displays. This versatile design is ideal for installations where high performance is required but in-wall subs or obtrusive in-room cabinet subs are not practical. Both the SRS-210W and SRS-210R systems use the 2700 watt SRA-2700EQ mono-block amplifier, featuring Sunfire’s patented Tracking Downconverter™ (TDC) technology. This is the same refined TDC technology used in the award-winning XT-Series Theater Grand-3 Receiver. Shipping in the fourth quarter of 2007, the SRS-210R will be $3500 with the SRS-210W at $3000; each MSRP. SubRosa, Latin for ‘behind the scenes’ or ‘operating in concealment’, describes the new Sunfire subs perfectly. In a market increasingly driven by invisible, space-saving solutions, Sunfire’s SubRosa subwoofers are precisely what consumers and dealers are looking for. A fact that is generally unknown or overlooked, most in-wall subwoofers are “de-tuned”, meaning that they will not play as loud or as low as their in-room counterparts. This is due to the adverse affects that occur from a large cabinet shaking within a wall. Both SubRosa models come standard with Sunfire’s patent pending StillBass anti-shake technology, exemplifying the company’s no-compromise design approach. By combining a powerful subwoofer design with a patented vibro-tactile I-BEAM™, SubRosa produces prodigious amounts of bass while at the same time reducing unwanted vibrations. And a low profile design allows the SRS-210W in-wall to fit into a standard 2 X 4 wall cavity. Following Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion, the I-BEAM creates opposing forces which reduce mechanical vibrations caused by the movement of SubRosa’s large 10” woofers – when the woofers move out, the I-BEAM moves in (and vice versa). The result is the most powerful in-wall subwoofer available. “Sunfire invented the small sub and revolutionized not just subwoofers but home theater as we know it,” explained Mark Weisenberg, General Manager of Sunfire. “Dealers and installers will really appreciate SubRosa’s space saving benefits and ease of installation while their customers will be in awe at the huge sound that seems to come from nowhere. This new XT-Series family of subwoofer systems once again leads the way and makes the unimaginable, possible.” The two new SubRosa subwoofers follow the highly successful debut of Sunfire’s Cinema Ribbon Duos (CRM-2 and CRM-2C) launched at CEDIA 2006 as well as the Cinema Ribbon Trios (CRS-3 and CRS-3C) debuted at CES. The SubRosa SRS-210R is an ideal complement for the new Trio In-Walls launched here at CEDIA 2007. Billed as ‘floorstanding speakers without the floor’, the Cinema Ribbons have generated considerable enthusiasm among Sunfire dealers, consumers and the media. The Cinema Ribbon speakers and SubRosa subwoofers are all part of Sunfire’s growing XT-Series, a special collection of the legendary brand’s finest products.
