Gefen Unveils 4x4 HDMI CAT-5 Matrix Extender Offering Both HDTV System Integration And Signal Extension Over Category-5 Cable

Bringing together two popular solutions in one convenient package, Gefen’s new 4x4 HDMI CAT-5 Matrix Extender integrates some of today’s most popular home theater components. The main unit comes equipped with four HDMI inputs and four HDMI/CAT-5 outputs. Each source can be assigned to one of the four outputs and can also be extended up to 330 feet (100 meters) with full HDCP-compliance using the IR remote control that comes with the unit or the RS-232 connection. The unit offers IR back channel to control sources. Gefen accomplishes the system’s extension functionality by using four separate receivers with built-in IR back channel capability. Each receiver can be placed up to 330 feet from the Extender, making this a perfect solution for multi-room venues. Receivers are equipped to handle full HDTV signal extension using industry-standard category-5 cabling, offering a quality method of delivery at a reasonable price. Category-5 cables are typically less expensive than copper and fiber optics, and with Gefen’s innovative technologies, are capable of carrying HDMI audio and video with no signal damage or delays. With the 4x4 HDMI CAT-5 Matrix Extender, HDTV sources and displays are integrated in simple, plug and play fashion, while high definition resolutions are supported up to 1080p. This powerful switchboard works with all set top boxes, HD DVD and Blu-Ray disk players and game systems as well as HDTV displays and projectors equipped with HDMI.
