New Cinema 600 Series In-Wall From B&W

September 11, 2007

Bowers & Wilkins, the British firm whose loudspeaker designs have established a world standard for quality and performance, will introduce a compact new custom-installation model at the 2007 CEDIA Expo in Denver, Colorado. The CWM Cinema 6 combines affordability with exceptional performance, and the handsome, understated looks for which B&W is well known. The CWM Cinema 6 joins B&W’s custom in-wall product range, providing a compact in-wall ideal for center-channel, or all-channels use in custom home theater installations. The new model features dual 6-inch, glass fibre-cone bass/mid drivers and a 1-inch soft dome tweeter that incorporates the firm’s exclusive Nautilus™ tube-loading, a tweeter “enclosure” that effectively eliminates coloration and “smearing” caused by the driver’s back wave, for unexcelled treble clarity and definition. The CWM Cinema 6 renders surprisingly full-range response (-6 dB at 50 Hz), yet offers high sensitivity, substantial power handling, and a stable, easy-to-drive 8Ω load to amplifiers. These factors combine to make it a superb choice for in-wall home theater installations, as well as for stereo rooms or zones in multiroom layouts. B&W’s simple but effective swing-out “fixing dogs” make the CWM Cinema 6 a fast, secure, efficient installation. The compact new B&W measures 10.1x14.6 inches, and requires a cutout of 8.8x13.3 inches with 3.54 inches mounting depth, easily accommodating existing stud walls. Available accessories include the BBW8 backbox, and PMK W8 pre-mount kit. Finished in matte, paintable white with perforated-aluminum grille, the CWM Cinema 6 will be available in October 2007, at a manufacturer’s suggested price of $350 (each).
